TSUNAMI AND PILGRIMAGE

Jan 05 Newsletter

Dear friends,

On the Tsunami and our Pilgrimage in South India: The death
and destruction in Southeast Asia is indeed devastating.
Despite this unimaginable tragedy, 99% of our pilgrims
chose to go ahead with the pilgrimage and we are deeply
moved by their commitment. I am reminded of our Y2K
pilgrimage, when there was much hype around the crashing of
computers resulting in confused air traffic control that
endangered air travel. Then there was our 2002 pilgrimage
that followed the aftermath of 9/11. Our pilgrims showed
great courage and fortitude during these times and were
determined to go ahead with those pilgrimages knowing that
the unpredictable can happen anywhere. It is precisely such
spirit that differentiates the pilgrim from the tourist,
and we feel honored to travel with such a group. Asha and I
plan to visit some of the afflicted areas and lend our
support immediately after our pilgrimage has been
completed.

Philadelphia, PA, Feb 26th, A One- day workshop on
Vibrational healing: This is my first time at this Family
and Play Therapy Center. The workshop filled up so fast
that they are now looking for a larger venue to accommodate
the overflow. Open to therapists and non-therapists, this
workshop addresses the mind/body connection through methods
of sonic yoga. Vibrational healing is growing in its
credibility and efficacy for it offers a way to deepen the
healing intuition by balancing inner and outer experience.
To get involved, please contact: Dottie Higgins,

Ayurveda Conference in Las Vegas on March 12 and 13: This
conference is organized by non-profit association dedicated
to making Ayurveda better known and giving this ancient
tradition of healing greater credibility in the United
States. The title of the conference is “Shakti Ma:
Nourishing and Nurturing Life.” If there is any way you can
help or get involved, please contact Bill Celantano
wcelentano@hotmail.com. Your support is deeply appreciated.

Burlingame, CA, March 18, 2005: Benefit Concert for
beautiful, safe home and program for women released from
Livermore jail in California. Sr. Marguerite Buchanan of
Mercy Center in Burlingame has been involved with this
project for several years and I am glad to get involved
with it at this stage. They really need help. Everyone
deserves a second chance; we all make mistakes in life.
Women, just released from prison, are particularly
vulnerable, insecure as they seek acceptance from society
and unsure about how exactly to rediscover their
empowerment as spiritual beings. If you would like to
lend your support to this very special event, please
contact Bear: svdpbearbrown@yahoo.com.

Easter Mantra Chanting Retreat at Kripalu Center in Lenox,
MA, March 25 to 27: I am very excited about this mantra
chanting retreat at Kripalu titled “Chanting into the
Light: The Marriage of Christian and Yogic Mysticism
through Mantra.” The purpose of this retreat is to blend
the deepest elements of yogic and Christian mysticism
through mantra. What an amazing way to celebrate Easter!
The weekend also includes a Kirtan concert with Kripalu
drummers. You can get more information at www.kripalu.org

As I mentioned in my Dec 04 newsletter, I am doing
comparatively few events in 2005 since I want to spend more
time in solitude this year. Please check my calendar and
get involved with those events that speak to you. You can
help by calling friends who live in the area, through an
email list, by displaying the information on your website,
or when possible, by putting up posters and distributing
flyers. Please contact the organizers directly, not us, and
let them know how you can help.

Wishing you and your loved ones the very best for the New
Year,

In One Spirit,

Russill Paul
